hello
yesterday i saw a male youth wearing a coat, shorts and flip-flops
i should be congratulated and respected for everyday i pass without murdering someone
i keep meaning to mention, that i live practically next door to a cryogenic laboratory
curiously, i have started to find much pleasure in new musics of recent; tho the most notable items have actually been archival efforts.
there seems to be growing trend for the unearthing and displaying of gems
to this end, i can thoroughly recommend the following consumables:
jean-pierre massiera’s le maledictus sound – l’etrange monsieur whinster
totally fucked 70s french mix of pop prog and psyche-soundfuckery. one of the highlights of the NWW list (yes, i only discovered what the fuss about “the NWW list” was recently). the kind of thing you need to hear really. but i guarantee you won’t be disappointed

tristam cary – its time for tristam cary
great collection of early electronics/tapes tracks from a forgotten innovator.
heres someone who knows what they’re talking about:

excavated shellac: strings
fantabulous comp of ancient recordings on a great label. actually all these three albums are on interesting labels. i have a tape somewhere of old old turkish recordings and, like this lovely record, not only are they beautiful to listen to, but they also encourage you to engage with ideas about recording and sound. as well as reminding you of a different time when the recording of music wasn’t the apparent prime purpose for a musician.

these are all beautifully presented and show the efforts of people who give a shit. real labours of love.
should also mention gary smith’s “supertexture” cd, available hier:
http://www.sijis.com/sijis_index.cfm?mainspace=release&catalogid=siji14
the second cd (of remixes/interpretations/collabs/constructions/somethings) was a fucking effort to get thru, frankly, but the first cd of mr smith playing alone is beautiful and terrifying at the same time. the guitar is NOT dead.
consumption round-up done.

and the first vision was of such a line from my head to the heavens, taut and glowing with send and return.
ill-maintained by others and flapping loosely in the ether, to and fro blocked by wrong-thots and self
and the second vision was of rays of connecting light, only seen in sly focus. true sight.
of the three coins offered to me by the angel, i took two and refused the third.
let misery claim the taker of the third coin.
4am, and a vision of hell
7-30pm, and a vision of hell
cold, dismal, bleak hell
let they who wander the earth recognise this.

things that have occurred in my brain of recent:
sincere apologies to mr daniel bennett, for nearly killing him somewhere near leeds. i will concentrate on the road more in future…
for someone who is apparently a musician or concerned with sound, i spend precious little time practicing this art. this needs to be rectified.
i am horrendously bad at managing my time. this too needs to be rectified.
i may have found a new home.
small set-ups are the way forward.
the intranets is death.
in other news:
the deepkiss 720/littlecreature collaboration is now out on midori records
its probably great – but then i haven’t got my copy yet…..
theres a petals/littlecreature split in the works
and an amy lace/fibroma/littlecreature split too.
and a few new things starting to fester.
next bang the bore is on 18th of april. twill be a good one.

shit times hier, all things considered, but lets ignore the screaming at the floor stuff, and cut to what you want to hear:
so, today i spent about seven hours tinkering with a track before i finally decided to return it to untinkered state. ugh. a good five minutes of this was spent trying to figure out why my four track wasn’t registering any input – only to realise it was because i had lowered the master volume to zero about….five minutes before…….. i also spent a good twenty minutes trying to make my computer play thru my speakers, until i noticed that i’d set my amplifier dial to aux/dvd, and not tuner. (clearly my computer is channeled via the tuner…. hmmm?)
oh sweet sop
tomorrow i intend to spend a good day doing good.
yip
also: third album, first song, last seven words, repeat.
